Course on “Taming Your Inner Critic” starts on the 18th

My last course ahead of extended sabbatical.

We all have this inner voice that expresses criticism, impatience, and (diss)approval about who we are and what we do. It uses such phrases as, “You should” and “Why didn’t you?” It may mock with such questions as, “What’s wrong with you?” or “How stupid was that?” or any one of many variations thereof.

If you recognize that nagging voice and want to reduce its power, this course may be for you. We’ll draw on mindfulness meditation, guided inquiry, and at-home. You can expect to learn viewing such criticism for what it is – a voice and not the truth – and come to rely on your innate intelligence.

The course will be held at Oak Bay Recreation @ Monterey for 3 session, Mar 18 to Apr 1, 2019, $57. Please register in person or by phone 250-595-7946. If you have questions for me, please write to onebreath-at-shaw.ca.

Peter Renner has been teaching mindfulness classes for over ten years — in extended care and corporate settings, for people living with cancer, and at Monterey. Long retired, he previously worked in corporate adult education and earned a doctorate in educational leadership from UBC. Peter undertook monastic training at Great Vow Zen Monastery and completed the foundational mindfulness course (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn.
